The purpose of an invitation is to give logistical details and set the theme. The easiest way to accomplish this is with custom wedding invitations.

Summer is quickly coming to an end, which means fall and your wedding day are right around the corner. You are now in what we like to call “Crunch Time.” With just a few short months separating you from eternal bliss, there are more than a few things left on your To-Do list, the least of which is not your invitations.

Etiquette dictates that your wedding invitations are mailed six to eight weeks before your big day. That gives guests plenty of time to make travel and hotel arrangements, especially if you sent save the dates several months prior. However, with the first day of fall (23 September 2015) just a few weeks away, you are quickly running out of time. But don’t worry. With the right guidance, you can have the custom wedding invitations you have always dreamed of. (more…)

Why Create Custom Wedding Invitations?

Friday, August 22nd, 2014

Custom Wedding InvitationsIf the guests are the most important part of a wedding, then the invitations are the most important part of the wedding planning process. So why would you settle for a standardized, impersonal wedding invitation to summon your guests to your special day? Your wedding invitations should coalesce with your theme, entice guest to attend, and continue to be valued keepsakes long after the ceremony.

Custom wedding invitations are the perfect solution. You can customize your invitations to your wedding’s design, giving guests a tantalizing peek into the ceremony’s special style. Additionally, the level of creativity afforded by custom invitations means that the invites will be treasured long after the big day instead of immediately trashed. As for the logistical side, selecting a company to print custom wedding invitations removes the stress of filling out names and addresses from your already overloaded shoulders. Not to mention the immense enjoyment derived from the experience of designing invitations alongside your fiancée, friends, and family.

Following is a guide to some of the printing and paper options for your custom wedding invitations.

Printing

Engraving: Traditional method of printing wedding invitations. A copper plate pressed into the paper leaves a raised imprint, which is then coated with ink.

Thermography: Replicates engraving at a more affordable cost. Not as sharp or detailed as engraving, but otherwise resembles it almost exactly.

Embossing: A metal die is pressed into the paper’s back, creating a raised surface then coated with foil or ink to add color.

Blind embossing: Embossing without the addition of foil or ink; lettering is same color as paper.

Letterpress: An inked plate is pressed into paper, resulting in inset lettering.

Offset: Printing that produces flat lettering. Affordable, but may yield fuzzy, inconsistent results.

Calligraphy: Handwritten lettering available in many genres and styles.

Papers

Vellum: Heavy, textured, translucent paper.

Glassine: Thin, waxy, shiny paper.

Rice: extremely thin, textured paper

Linen finish: mimic’s linen’s woven appearance

Parchment: somewhat translucent, mottled paper

Jacquard: paper that has been screen printed to create a stylized, layered look
