How to Prepare for a Summer Wedding

Having a summer wedding can be a dream come true. Still, this fairytale has plenty of preparation behind the scenes to pull it off.

Having a summer wedding can be a dream come true. Still, this fairytale has plenty of preparation behind the scenes to pull it off. Wedding planning can take months and summertime nuptials are no different, which is why getting a headstart now is well worth it.  Here is a guide on how to do it!

Relieve the Heat

No one wants to boil in the heat, especially during a sweltering Baltimore summer. That’s why one of the most important steps in the planning process is to provide plenty of heat relief. If you are renting tents, then portable fans and air conditioning units are available to help cool all of your guests down. Chilled hand towels, perhaps monogrammed with the initials of the betrothed also make a fun addition to the occasion

Use Save-the-Dates

Save-the-dates and wedding invitations need to be sent out far in advance. Sometimes, couples simply choose to elope and keep the reception small and quiet; however, in some cultures, such a tactic is deeply frowned upon – it’s one reason why creating elegant save the dates is well worth the investment. Everyone looks forward to going on vacation during the summer, and if they can include attending weddings in those plans, it will make the logistics much easier and less frustrating, since that can wear on everyone’s nerves.

Include Lighter Fare on the Menu

The menu, whether it is catered or not, makes a huge difference in terms of how enjoyable the event is. All guests should have the opportunity to have a scrumptious meal, whether they need it to be vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, or halal. At the same time, do be sure to include some lighter fare on the menu that isn’t as heavy as you would expect to see at a wedding set in the fall or the winter.

Don’t Start Around Noon

Noon is usually the hottest part of the day. Even though it is lunchtime, set up a morning or evening ceremony when the sun hasn’t had time to get going and become too bright for everyone to be comfortable. Dinner should be served around sunset, which provides an optimal setting for romantic photos for the wedding party and the guests alike.
