About Us

A History You Can Trust...

Time Printers"Printing has been in our family for several generations ... it's in our blood," says Time Printers' President, Al Maddox Jr. His grandfather, Gabriel B. Maddox Sr., under the guidance of Booker T. Washington, was the first instructor in printing and established the first printing shop at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama. He then came to Baltimore from Augusta, Georgia. In 1907, he opened a small family owned print shop that quickly became a cornerstone in Baltimore's business community.

Nearly half a century later in 1954, Gabriel B. Maddox's sons, Al Maddox Sr. and Frank Maddox Sr., opened Time Printers on the west side of Baltimore. With their extensive knowledge of the industry and deep seeded community roots, Time Printers soon found its timeless place in the city's infrastructure.

Al Sr. and his wife raised seven children, six of which are partners in the business today. Each sibling and co-owner brings unique qualities to the company that allows them to build upon its reputation in the community by combining quality products, quick turn around, and outstanding customer service.

In 2009, Al Maddox Jr. became the first African American to serve as the Chairman of the Board of any print trade association in the United States when he assumed the position in the Printing and Graphics Association Mid Atlantic.

Today, Time Printers is constantly challenging itself to stay on the cutting edge of the industry's standards without giving up their personal touch. They offer their clients the newest technology while at the same time adhering to their extensive history and timeless traditions.
