Tips for Hanging Posters on Your Walls

Posters can be a great way to advertise your business.

Posters can be a great way to advertise your business. They can add to the theme of your restaurant, help make your movie theater more interesting, and in regular businesses can add some personality to an otherwise dull and drab workplace.

Choosing Materials

When it comes to hanging a poster, a pencil and tape measure are essential. However, that doesn’t mean they are the only tools you’ll use. It all comes down to how you want to put the poster on the wall. Whether you’re running a small business out of your home or you rent a commercial building, there might be restrictions on what you can put on the walls and how you can hang a poster or other wall decorations. Tacks, putty, and adhesives can all do the job without needing nails. What you use to hang the poster will depend on the weight of the poster.

Look at the Wall

So now that you know what materials you want to use, the time has come to examine the wall where you want to hang everything. Get rid of any scuffs, bits of dirt, or stains that can affect how sticky the adhesive you are using is. Rubbing alcohol can help you get rid of any old residues that are still on the wall.

Placing the Poster

Now it’s time to place the poster. This process will involve some math. Measure the total length of the poster, taking into account the size of the frame you plan on using. Take the total length and divide it in half, which will tell you what the mid-point is. Then, take a moment to think about all of the numbers between 57 and 63 and pick one, because from there you can approximate what the average height should be. Now take away the mid-point from the average. This is how you figure out where the poster should go. Measure the distance from the spot on the wall down to the floor and make a pencil mark.

Adding Frames

Now that you’re ready to add a frame, choose one that fits with the poster you are hanging. You will want it to complement the color, size, and shape of the poster. A frame is what can make your space look more elegant and professional; that’s why getting the right one is so important.
