We usually send greeting cards to friends, relatives, and new neighbors who have just joined the neighborhood. However, businesses can use these cards as well. Even so, there is a modicum of respect and etiquette that you will want to follow, so you don’t offend your customers and potentially lose their business in the future.

Update Your Contact Info

Go through your contact list and keep your info as up to date as possible. You don’t want to continue sending greeting cards to addresses where your customers no longer live; plus it will likely annoy the current resident. Using a CRM system or a database of the customer’s home address, the best number to call, and phone number is much more useful than you might think.

Consider the Timing of the Cards

The next consideration you have to keep in mind is the timing of the cards that you are sending out. Please don’t wait too long to send it, as you never know what could be going on in the lives of your customers. This means that planning the greeting cards well in advance is one of the best moves you can make. Handwritten notes and greeting cards, take much longer to send out. Think about how it would look different in an email compared to snail mail. Even though there are ways to provide your customers with special offers, coupons, and vouchers through emails or text messaging, sometimes the old ways are still better. Your customer will be touched that you took the time to design and print a custom greeting card just for them.

Make It Stand Out

Finally, let’s look at some of the ways that you can make your greeting cards the best they can be. In other words, you need to make them stand out from the pack. Think about all the other mail that your customers get every day: bills, notices, letters, packages. You want to make your greeting cards to look different, and not just be something that can be crammed on the inside of a storm door. Make them happy. Include small surprises such as gift cards to corporate partners or new businesses that you want to throw your support behind.
