4 Content Errors That Could Hurt Your Printed Marketing Materials

That’s why the best-looking marketing materials are so important. Still, there are easy-to-make mistakes that can torpedo your marketing efforts.

Marketing your business is an essential part of helping your company grow. Small businesses in particular that are minority-owned might not get as much attention from consumers that aren’t willing to search very hard to find them. That’s why the best-looking marketing materials are so important. Still, there are easy-to-make mistakes that can torpedo your marketing efforts.

Disconnects

Pay attention to your demographics and make your text count. Many people already have a lot of content to read on a daily basis, whether for school or for work. There is only so much that the human brain can process, and every day there is even more information from advertisements online, through TV, radio, and other sources. Disconnects between your message and how you choose to convey it will make your marketing materials less effective. Change your tone to be friendlier towards an older audience if that is who your target market is, especially if you can provide more detail. For a younger audience who relies on mobile devices, you will want to keep it short and sweet.

No Goals in Mind

The bedrock of any good content marketing strategy is to have a goal in mind. Get to the point and don’t meander. If you don’t have a goal to accomplish and a plan to execute, then your marketing materials will fail to do what you want them to do and as such, what you are trying to say will get lost in the noise. Brochures, for example, should be focused on benefits and perks.

Information Overload

Likewise, do your best to avoid information overload. Printed materials can be just as cluttered as a website, a postcard, or a business card. Be careful to avoid this problem. Choose a single high-quality image to anchor your printed marketing materials, such as showing off your new text-based logo unveiled during a rebranding campaign.

No Set Time Limits

Digital marketing campaigns and physical ones have something in common: they need time limits or they run the risk of being ignored. Whether you are advertising a great sale to returning customers or attempting to hook new patrons to order takeout or delivery from you, going beyond a great coupon offer or a delicious-looking menu is a necessity. Email links might work better than physical coupons unless you want to offer those coupons through an app that isn’t quite as enticing as what you offer through your printed marketing materials.
